Social Engineering Attacks

This refers to advertisement language or graphic design in such a way which can trick a user into thinking that it is part of an installed program on their computer.

For example, pop-up windows mimicking Windows or Skype dialogue boxes in design and language are usually used by malicious coders to convince the user into giving installation authorization or can be used to redirect them to a malicious web address.

These attacks are usually a part of the phishing scams. These attacks are carefully constructed with story lines and interest-based themes which makes it easier for the hacker to attack an unsuspecting victim.

Apart from the recommended malware monitoring services, businesses should also train their employees about identifying the most common story lines and pretexts used by the hackers to carry out malicious attacks
